Dilemma
Many a times a huge tree in the forest becomes a prey for the termite, one of the tiniest creatures. Once fallen to the ground, the tree is attacked by other insects, who reconvert a tree into soil for other trees to grow on. These insects, in turn, themselves fall prey to the larger inhabitants of the animal kingdom.
While using a dead bark of a fallen Deodaar tree for his art (Bark+Oils on Plyboard 36"x21" - August 2017), was jasmand thinking about Nature at large, or was he just concerned about how to make an art out of a bark? Was he thinking of preserving a piece of Nature, while in reality disturbing the course of Nature? Did he face the dilemma of preservation versus destruction? Creation versus disturbance? What do you think?
